Calafia Press's mission is to uncover and promote well-written, genre-bending tales featuring people of color that may not exist elsewhere. We open our readers' minds to the journeys and characters less ordinary. Diversity in writers and characters are welcome, but we are especially fond of unconventional stories featuring female characters of color.
Founded in 2018, Calafia Press publishes tales that acknowledge social constructs such as race, class, gender and sexual orientation, but pushes past these constructs into unchartered realms of existence. The Calafia writer is not bound by what one is supposed to write, but this writer offers tales with multi-dimensional characters that defy conventionality.
In addition to assisting new authors with our publishing services, Calafia Press has it's own writers, anthologies in progress and a literary journal in 2021. See our
